HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM |
HISTORY
|
The Michigan Amateur Softball Association
established the MASA Hall of Fame in 1982. The purpose was to
honor those men and women who have played a major role in the
growth and development of the game softball throughout the State
of Michigan. |
| Six categories were
developed for membership including; players, commissioners,
managers, meritorious service, sponsors and umpires. |
| In establishing the MASA
Hall of Fame in 1982, MASA inducted twenty eight charter members.
Currently, MASA has honored one hundred and seventy seven members
into the MASA Hall of Fame with Hall of Fame plagues honoring
each member on display in Midland. |
| At the time the Hall of
Fame was established, MASA did not have a site to ' house ' the
project. In 1995, MASA established a site in Midland, Michigan
and at the same time established a new direction when developing
the MASA Hall of Fame and Museum. The site is located in the MASA
State Office at 3316 Isabella Street, Midland, Michigan
48640. The office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday
through Friday. |
| The Museum aspect was added
in 1995 with the intent of honoring and preserving the game and
it's rich history. If you have any memorabilia such as softball
equipment, softballs, gloves, mitts, bats, catcher's equipment,
masks, shin guards, umpire equipment, shin guards, indicators,
programs or newspaper articles that are sitting some where
collecting dust, MASA would appreciate your donation to the
cause. |
| If you are planning on
visiting the MASA Hall of Fame, we suggest that you contact the
office in advance at 989 - 835 - 5821 for current office hours.
There are times when we are forced to close the office because of
travel or illness. |
| Come visit us, we would enjoy your company. |
