MASA MOVE-UP TEAMS
MANDATORY CLASSIFICATION RULE
MOVE-UP TEAMS. Enclosed you will find a
list, by division, of all teams that must participate in at least the
next higher classification in their next MASA tournament-playing season.
RESTRICTED CLASSIFICATION. In addition you
will find a list, by division, of all teams that are subject to
restricted classification under the MASA Mandatory Classification Rule.
Teams that subject to ' Restricted Classification ' are designated by an
( * ) asterisk.
Note: It is the responsibility of the District Commissioner to
notify these teams and to follow-up and enforce the MASA Mandatory
Classification Rule.
REMINDER
Any and all appeals for teams that are subject to the MASA
MANDATORY CLASSIFICATION RULE must be submitted and approved by the MASA
Classification Appeals Board.
MASA MANDATORY CLASSIFICATION RULE
- In 2007, legislation was passed to allow the MASA President to
appoint a sub-committee to review annually the teams that will move
up to the next class their next MASA tournament playing season.
- This sub-committee will review all tournament records and
determine the teams that will move up to the next class. This
committee will meet in the fall.
- A team which has four or more players on a roster ( Including
Pick-Up Players ) from a team or teams that are subject to the MASA
Move-Up Rule, must play in the next higher classification for their
next MASA tournament-playing season.
- Any and all appeals involving teams that are subject to the '
MASA Mandatory Classification Rule ' must be submitted and approved
by the MASA Classification Appeals Board.
- RIGHT OF APPEAL. All MASA teams shall have the ' right of appeal
' regardless of whether or not they are subject to the ' MASA
Mandatory Classification Rule '.
